Story Time: Valentine's Day
Updated: Jun 27, 2021
Yesterday, I had the most amazing Valentine's day and all thanks are to my beautiful friends and family who definitely made me feel loved. The day was not fancy nor typically filled with rose petals and chocolates. Well, I bought myself flowers and macaroons but that does not count... Nevertheless, it was a simply ordinary amazing day.
And because of yesterday, I am glad to announce a new feature for More Self Love Club blog called "Story Time". Since teenage days, I have been always strongly passionate about imagining the impossible and wondering what would happen if it would be real - fantasising about the moment I fall in love. I used to write letters to my imaginary boyfriends and play game called 'imagine' with my best friends, back in the days when phones did not have touched screens.
"IMAGINE is a texting game, where your friend creates a situation and you answer with a response to how you would react in that moment. "
The game was so good that I decided to begin to write stories. It's like a wattpad, but more like pen and paper version. A few years passed and I simply grew out of it, until yesterday. I remembered how truly creative and genuinely fun it is. It not only improves your writing skills but also develops your imagination. So here I am sharing my very first short chapter of a story which was inspired by true events and with a sprinkle of imagination I was able to turn it into something utterly capturing and intriguing, which makes you beg for more.
P.S. Another reason, which convinced me to continue, was the moment when reading my last story I realised that everything what once seemed like perfect imagination, has now become my real life - I suppose, law of attraction?
Valentine's Day
Late afternoon, I sit in my most beloved cafe in town. Reggae music is playing in the background as I take a sip of my chai latte, which I decided to treat myself to today. All of a sudden, my thoughts are distracted by a handsome, entrepreneurial looking guy passing by. Damn! I can't help but notice how good he looks! Light brown camel coat, dark brown leather shoes and oh... 3-day beard which creates that edgy, bad-boy look. He disappears behind the door at the back of the hallway. I decide to let it go, so I continue to read a book called "Millionaire Success Habits". The back door flies open as I notice him walking patiently behind an elder lady. He rushes to fix his chestnut coloured hair as he walks by. My observation is discontinued as he sits at the table right behind me. My curiosity grows as I begin to wonder how romantic it would be if I said Hi and we fell in love on this beautiful day. As I continue my fantasy, my phone vibrates. Really?! My best friend tagged me into another cheesy Valentine's day meme...
The time slowly passes by as I finish another chapter of the book. The wisdom fascination begs me to read more, so I do. Suddenly, I am interrupted by someone taking an empty seat right in front of me. As I look up with concern, I notice the same light brown coat and dark blue shirt with two top collar buttons undone. I feel a strong yet clean smell of cherries and men's cologne. IT'S HIM! I am lost for words as I notice his perfectly proportioned facial features and those kind blue eyes. Damn, he looks much better when up close. 'Hi', the sound of his manly yet so ordinary voice captures my attention. 'I couldn't help but notice you reading Dean's book', he says. 'What a typical pick-up line', I think to myself as I shyly chuckle. 'Yeah, it's great' is all that I manage to say. He looks into my eyes as he asks bunch of unnecessary questions about the book itself. The conversation switches to Valentine's day topic, which is the moment where it gets really interesting. 'Seems like Mr Valentine forgot what day it is today' I sense his sarcastic humour, as I continue to answer 'what makes you think that?'. He chuckles shyly as he confess his affection to me, 'well, today is a day which celebrates love, and yet such an attractive woman like yourself sits here all by herself'. On some level I feel like I strongly dislike him for what he just decided to assume about me, but I decide to play along. 'I am flattered by your answer but unfortunately I am celebrating not alone. I have a date later', I lie. 'Is that so?', he sounds surprised as he begins to play with his knuckles. 'And where will you be celebrating, if you don't mind me asking?', he continues as I think to myself 'so cocky!'. 'Oh, I get it. You're asking me so that when I tell you, you can stalk me later', I play along as I try to get him to surrender. 'Maybe', he says teasingly. We both chuckle.
Out of the blue, he rushes to look at his gold Rolex, making me assume that he completely lost track of time. He pulls out his leather wallet out of his back pocket and places something square on the table, which looks like a business card. He turns it over and begins to write the digits. 'Well, that was quick', I think to myself. 'Call me', he says as he stands up and leaves me in confusion. For a moment I sit still as I hear the voice behind 'oh and also I'm Noah'. I turn around as my eyes follows him. I watch him walk away as I sit in awe thinking 'what just HAPPENED?'.
